Problems changing nameservers.

If you are attempting to modify your nameserver settings on your domain and getting an error message, your nameservers may not be registered. All nameservers have to registered with the root-level registry in order for them to be valid.

You may also see the following error message when trying to change the nameservers:

"Your nameserver information could not be updated: There was an error verifying that you own this domain. Please try again later."

This usually indicates that the domain itself is not registered.

If you do a WHOIS query for the nameservers themselves (go to Verisign, type in "ns1.yourdomain.com", select the nameserver radio button, and submit), you can check to see whether or not your nameservers are registered. If they are registered, they will come up in a search. Otherwise, they will not. In order for nameservers to work, they need to be registered.

You may register them through Sitelutions. Simply login to your Sitelutions account, navigate to the Domain Control Center, click on the domain name (yourdomain.com), then navigate to the bottom of the screen and click the link to add your own nameserver on this domain. You will need to do this for ns1 and ns2. After doing so, wait 24 hours, and then you should be able to change the domain name to use these nameservers.
